I can't believe you were this close to something so terrifying. either you are one crazy adventure or extremely brave... incredible!!! what a photo.

thanks ^^
though i wasn't quite as close as i think the photo implies, i was standing across the street in a neighbors yard, what the pictures don't show (well actually the first one sort of does) was the dozen or so vehicles lined up along the other side of the road, from police vehicles to power company vehicles to fire vehicles. I don't think i could have gotten any closer than I was without being stopped by a fireman or police officer.
as for how i got there in the first place? well I was staying with some relatives, who live on the next street over and we were all relaxing around a fire (enclosed in a metal burn pit) when someone noticed the bright orange glow on the horizon, which was only one street over, so about 5 of us pi9led into a pickup truck to go look (among the group is my uncle, a retired fire captain and my cousin in law, a volunteer fire fighter, though not from that fire district) so their curiosity was professional as well as personal. It wa quite a night.. needless to say they made SURE the fire that we were gathering around was well and truly out before going to bed.

hee hee, why thanks ^^ yeah, having firefighters as relatives i get to hear some rather interesting stories, especially a retired fire captain who has seen... a lot.. in his days.

and i do believe everyone got out, at least that is what i overheard from the people who lived nearby.
